Department for foreigners

This service carries out the first recording of any person of foreign nationality who resides on the territory of the municipality, while referring to the provisions of the law of December 15th, 1980 on the stay of the foreigners in Belgium and to its royal orders of application.

 

!!! ATTENTION : STARTING FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 !!!

Any EU citizen who wishes to stay in Belgium for more than 3 months must submit a complete application file to request their registration (Annex 19)

Otherwise, the application will not be considered

 

This does not concern the registration requests submitted BEFORE September 1st, 2025. 



Documents to be presented when submitting the application :

 

  1. Employee

 
  • Work contract
    (ORIGINAL SIGNED)

    or

  • Statement of commitment  (ORIGINAL SIGNED)

    or

  • Employer certificate
    (Annex 19bis)
    (ORIGINAL SIGNED)
  1. Self-Employed Worker

 
  • Registration with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises WITH COMPANY N° (CBE)

    and

  • Certificate of Affiliation
    (SOCIAL INSURANCE FUND)

Good to know : this certificate is sent directly to the local municipal administration of the residence by the chosen social insurance fund

3.    Student

 
  • School inscription 
    (educational institution that is organized, recognized, or subsidized)

    and

  • Health Insurance (European Health Insurance Card, private insurance, S1 form, registration with a Belgian mutual insurance fund) 

    and

  • Proof of sufficient resources (document provided by municipality)

4.    EU family mmember of another EU citizen (ex : spouse, descendant)

 
  • Proof of family relationship, marriage or partnership (BIRTH OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES : ORIGINALS, TRANSLATED INTO FRENCH OR DUTCH + RECENT – max 6 months old)

    and

  • Parental Autorisation (if one of the parents is not registered / not in Belgium)

 

5.    Job seeker

 
  • Registration with employment service
    (Forem, Actiris ou VDAB)

    or

  • Copies of job application letters/emails

6.  Person who has sufficient resources not to be dependent on the Belgian social assistance system during their stay.

 
  • Proof of sufficient resources

    and

  • Health Insurance (European Health Insurance Card, private insurance, S1 form, registration with a Belgian mutual insurance fund)
