Municipal Council
The municipal council, considered as parliament of the municipality, assembles on demand of the Council of Mayor and Aldermen or the President of the council. The council deals with all matters relating to municipal interests as well as all matters that are attributed to it by superior authorities.
The main tasks of the municipal council are:
- control the actions of the council of Mayor and Aldermen;
- order interior regulations and police regulations within the municipality
- vote municipal tax regulations
- approve annual budgets
- establish (municipal administrative) sanctions
- adopt the framework and statute of municipal staff
- name or revoke staff
- authorize the council of Mayor and Aldermen to appeal
- organise the purchase, selling, exchange of immovable goods, the acquisition or the bestowal of rent or
emphyteusis contracts
